Mahavir Swami was the 24th and the last supreme God of Jains. He is also known as the real founder of Jainism. He was born in 540 B.C. near Kundagram in Vaishali. His father was Siddhartha and his mother was Trishla. He 540 B.C. near was very kind hearted and lover of truth. His childhood name was Vardhman. When Vardhman became young, his parents married him with a beautiful princess Yashoda. But he was not happy in the palace. He didn't find peace anywhere. He left the palace in search of truth and peace and became a hermit when he was only 30 years old. After the devotion of 12 years he got enlightenment under a Sal tree on the bank of Rijupalika river. Due to victory over sense he is also known as 'Jin' or 'Mahavir'. After getting enlightenment he visited many towns and villages of the country and preached people. He never stayed for more than one day in a village. He was passed away in Pawapuri in 468 B.C.
