Social media has altered the way we communicate today, acronyms & abbreviations, hashtags. neologisms, visuals like images and GIFS are generally employed as a medium of digital chattine to express our opinions and feelings. But you must have realized that visuals are not enough, theu have limitations of their own and text is required for fair expressions of thoughts.

A thesaurus is a great tool by which you can look up potential synonyms for a word in your document, It suggests alternative words and other adjectives, and also helps you to enrich your vocabulary.


To use the Thesaurus, follow these steps:

  • Select a word.
  • Click on the REVIEW tab. 
  • Click on the Thesaurus under Proofing options.
  • A list of words will appear to the right of your screen.
  • To replace your selected word with one of the words from the list, point to it, click the down arrow, » Click Insert Or » Click Copy (to copy and paste)


You can also access Thesaurus by:
1. Using keyboard shortcut Shift + F7.
2. Right clicking on a word, choosing Synonym and clicking on the desired word by selecting Thesaurus.
