Difference between alliance and coalition government

When several parties join hands for contesting election and run the government is called alliance. When two or more than two parties come together to form a government is called Coalition government. OR

When two or more parties combine to form a single govt. before the elections is called alliance govt. When no party win in the elections then two or more parties combine to form coalition govt.
