Holi is the festival of colours. It is celebrated in the month of March when the crops of wheat and millet are ready for harvesting. It is also considered as a harvest festival. On this day, people apply coloured powder or gulal on friends and relatives. They also sprinkle coloured water on on another with a 'Pichkari'. That is why, it is called a festival of colours. People embrace one another and also distribute sweets.
